Gibraltar Customs

United States citizens and citizens of other countries residing in the United States (holding a Green Card or any valid long-term US visa except B1/B2) can apply for a visa to Gibraltar online.



Import regulations by Gibraltar customs


Imports:
A reasonable quantity of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and perfume for personal use.

* A visitor may import his car without payment of duty provided he is not a resident; he intends to make only a temporary stay in Gibraltar; it is being imported for his own use (or that of some other entitled visitor) and he will take it out with him when he leaves.

* Drivers of vehicles entering Gibraltar must be in possession of a Green Card valid for any EU country; or UK Certificate of Motor Insurance; or Certificate of Motor Insurance issued in accordance with Gibraltar law (no motor insurance facilities are available at Entry points). Current registration documents and driving license is also required.

* Caravans may only be imported provided a License has been previously obtained from the office of the Collector of Customs


prohibited or restricted goods:

drugs, firearms, ammunition, offensive weapons, (eg. flick knives etc), explosives, fireworks, indecent or obscene material, fast launches, raw and worked ivory, rigid inflatable boats of 6 metres or more, tobacco (cigarettes) in commercial quantities.

Fortified wines and sparking wines and 2 litres
Still wines (other than fortified wines) 2 litres

Tobacco:
Cigarettes 200

Cigarillos (cigars with a maximum weight each of 3 grammes) 100

Cigars 50
or
Smoking tobacco 200 grammes


Perfume:

Perfumes 50 grammes
Toilet water 0.25 grammes


Articles of any other description up to a total value of ?32.

Other Gibraltar customs information



Food drink: Mains water is normally chlorinated. Bottled water is available and is advised for the first few weeks of the stay. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.

Other risks: Visitors to forested areas should consider vaccination for tick-borne encephalitis.

Health care: Gibraltar is a British Crown Colony and UK citizens are entitled to free treatment in public wards at St Bernards Hospital and at Casemates Health Centre on presentation of a UK passport during stays of up to 30 days in the colony. Other EU nationals are similarly entitled on presentation of Form E111. Medical treatment elsewhere and prescribed medicines must be paid for. Dental treatment must also be paid for but extractions are undertaken for a nominal charge at St Bernard?s Hospital during normal weekday working hours.
